View Builder: Periods
Last updated April 26, 2026
The Periods tab in the View Builder controls which time periods appear as columns in your Workbench view. You can use prebuilt presets or build a custom combination of months, quarters, and years.
Using period presets
The Forecast Period dropdown provides prebuilt period sets that cover common use cases:
- Mixed views — e.g., “This and next month + this quarter”
- Monthly views — e.g., “This and next quarter by month” (shows the individual months for two quarters)
- Quarterly views — e.g., “This fiscal year by quarter” (shows Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4)
- Yearly views — Full fiscal year periods
When you select a preset, the selected periods list updates immediately to show exactly which periods will appear in the view.
Building a custom period set
You can start from scratch or start with a preset and modify it:
- Remove periods you don’t need by clicking the X next to them in the selected periods list.
- Add periods from the period tree, which shows all available fiscal months, quarters, and years.
You can mix period types freely — for example, individual months plus quarters in the same view. There’s no restriction on combining different period granularities.
All periods are relative
Period selections are relative, not fixed dates. A view configured with “this month and next month” automatically rolls forward over time. You build the view once and it stays current without manual updates.
